I COOK. (If I like you, I'll share. I've been told my baking is おいしい.)

I TAKE PHOTOS. (But only very rarely of the food I prepare.)

I LIKE MUSIC (AND STILL BUY MUSIC CDs.) (A bit too much, probably, However, with the photos I take, I attempt to make those who perform it look cool.)

I WRITE STORIES NO ONE READS. (Well, they don’t admit it if they do.)

I ONCE LIVED/WORKED IN A HEAVILY-ARMED, MOBILE, SUBMERSIBLE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. (I will neither confirm nor deny whether anything glows in the dark.)
BUT SERIOUSLY, THOUGH...

I shoot portraits and events (you need to be family (or close to it) if you want me to do a wedding), but, by far, my favorite thing to photograph is LIVE music.

I've been photographing bands for 25+ years. It doesn't feel like it's been that long, but both a calendar and my grey hair tell me otherwise.

There's just something about capturing an instant in time that if it's missed it's gone forever; there's no stopping the show and trying again.

Add to that... I love seeing an artist on-stage with a smile on their face because they're dong something they truly enjoy.
GETTING THE SHOT...

During my 6 years in the U.S. Navy (That's another story for another time.) photography was just one of my many collateral duties, but the attention to detail and ability to instantly react to any situation required for my primary job, only aided in being a periscope photographer.

Submarines, by their very nature, aren't supposed to be seen. The periscope can only break the surface of the water for a few seconds. In those scant few seconds, the photographer must look around, ascertain the situation and decide what to photograph.

That same skillset is required for concert photography.
